Shillong: NPP leader Mr. Prestone Tynsong said that there was no prior agreement that the chairman should be from the UDP but when the government was formed, Dr. Donkupar Roy, one of the senior leader expressed his willingness to serve as the Speakar of the State Assembly and most of his friends from the MDA were glad since he was one of the senior member.
“When the MDA was formed, sir Donkupar Roy, said that he would be most willing to serve as the Speaker and all of us from the MDA were glad that Mr. Donkupar Roy would be taking the position since he was one of the senior.” Mr.Prestone stated. Further he said that there was no prior agreement as such, though the UDP has the right to claim.
When asked about UDP’s claim for the position, Mr. Prestone said that it doesn’t matter who takes over the position but it is necessary that the MDA conducts a proper meeting for decision making.
Till date, nothing can be said about this matter because it will only be discussed when all the members of the MDA come together as a team for decision making and this does include the NPP, UDP, PDF, HSPDP, NCP and the independent MLA’s.
At the same time, Mr.Prestone refused to comment about the coming election in Shella and simply said that the party as a whole will see to it.
