Shillong: “The way these drugs were hidden very carefully in the bus shows that even the bus driver is involved in this drug supply to our state.” states Cloudia Lyngwa, the S.P. of East Khasi Hills, today while addressing the reporters in a meeting held at her office. The meeting was held after the police was able to cease the supply of drugs worth Rs.4.5 crores from a woman named Veineithem Haokip, aged 25 years, from Teigang (Manipur) as she was entering Meghalaya with a young boy through a Night Super.
The Anti Narcotics Task Forces (ANTF) under the leadership of SDPA Sardar Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said,”we received the information about the arrival of these drugs through hired vehicles drivers “The police laid a trap at Mawryngkneng around 12a.m. and were able to catch one Night Super with plate number MN04P1451 where they even arrested a woman along with a young boy carrying about 930 gm of drugs worth Rs.4.5 crores.
These drugs were found to be carefully hidden in the luggage compartment of the bus.At a glance, it was not easy to make out that there was a hidden room for the 3 bags from where the drugs were found out.Inside a bag, there were 80 soap cases where drugs were hidden. The way that these drugs were hidden shows that even the bus driver is related in this drug supply to Meghalaya. Till date, in Meghalaya around 100 drug abusers have been arrested by the police and this is a very sad scenario. The S.P. strongly pleads to one and all for a collaboration in eradicating this evil from our society as a whole.
